Best chippy in town and has been for years, also the only place that has panga on the menu (although it often sells out towards the end of the week).
Be warned, pretty much everything gets batter on it, including (oddly) the pre-battered tempura prawns. -

The Arcade chippy is definitely one of the best fish and chip shops around. The shop is located down an alley just off Whitley Road in Whitely Bay (between Greggs bakery and a fruit shop) Even though it is tucked away out of sight, it is extremely popular so there is quite often a queue. The prices are about what you'd expect of a fish and chip shop anywhere and the portion sizes are generous. They offer quite an extensive range of things on the menu (fish, pies, sausage, fritters etc) and also a large range of soft drinks. It is right in the centre of Whitley Bay so handy to nip to after a hard days shopping!
